Generating a world of fun
Since 1903, the canine world’s best pointers and setters have shown off their talents in Burke County. We’re known as the Bird Dog Capital of the World. But our love for the outdoors just begins there. We’re home to four wildlife management areas – public lands that provide sportsmen with thousands of acres for hunting dove, quail, wild turkey and whitetail deer. For more civilized play, you can take horse riding lessons in your choice of English, Dressage or Western Pleasure, or golf on private and public courses carved from timberland and apple orchards.
Burke County Recreation Department maintains an impressive array of public park spaces that include everything from gyms and pools to fields for baseball, soccer, football, basketball, archery and more. Kids of all ages are always welcome.
