New construction is a sign of economic growth and prosperity throughout Waynesboro and Burke County. As work continues at sites across the county including Units 3 & 4 at Plant Vogtle, the new judicial center in downtown Waynesboro, convenience stores along the bypass, new restaurants and new retail outlets, progress is now also evident at the Waynesboro Burke Industrial Park.

In 2016, Purification Cellutions announced an expansion that would create 100 additional jobs, and expand their existing footprint in Waynesboro by 26,000 square feet. Initial phases of the expansion occurred within the original 73,000 square foot facility, but construction is well underway on the outside of the facility today.

Economic Development Director Jessica Hood said this week that additional square footage is being added to the existing facility to account for an expansion of the production area, and an operations center is being built in front of the facility to accommodate space for employee training, locker rooms, and offices for engineers, planning and support teams. "Once the construction project is complete, Purification Cellutions will have dedicated, separate structures for manufacturing and office operations," she added.

Expansion of the existing manufacturing facility is scheduled for completion in July 2018, with new equipment being added by December 2018. Construction of the operations center is scheduled for completion in January 2019. Current employment at the facility is over 200 full time employees
